Janneke Snetselaar (1987) is a biologist with a fascination for Entomology and vector-borne diseases. She obtained her MSc degree at Wageningen University in 2013 with a specialization in bio-interactions. During her MSc thesis (2011) she focused on the evaluation of repellent compounds against the malaria mosquito Anopheles gambiae s.s. During her thesis she developed experimental set-ups and conducted behavioural research both in Wageningen and in Kenya at the ICIPE-Thomas Odhiamo Mbita campus. Living within a malaria endemic region greatly inspired her to continue working towards a better quality of life.

She did an internship (2012) at Entocare, a company that focusses on the biological control of pests, where she was involved in the rearing of several insect species in addition to her research on predator-prey interactions. After this she worked at the department of Entomology (Wageningen University 2012). Here she expanded her knowledge on mosquitoes and behavioural research.
