Why we do it
Diseases like malaria, Dengue, Lyme disease, yellow fever, Leishmaniasis and sleeping sickness affect the lives of millions of people, killing mostly the weak and the young. There is an enormous need for low-cost, effective and more sustainable control products against the insects that carry these diseases. Scientific research is creating important knowledge, but this is often not valorised,
i.e. translated into practical and commercially viable tools that can be successfully deployed in developing countries.
We have experienced the impact of diseases such as malaria in African countries ourselves and feel a strong urge to have a more direct and bigger contribution to their prevention than merely publishing our research findings in scientific journals. As an independent research institute we have the chance to combine our academic background with a creative, yet practical approach and achieve real innovations with real impact.
We are into care!
